Medicaid long-term care
Assisted living with Sunshine Health Medicaid long-term care
Sunshine Health is one of the plans Florida Medicaid uses for long-term care. On September 30, 2026 it had 34,766 long-term care members in Florida, most of them in Miami-Dade, Palm Beach and Broward counties, per the state's Medicaid enrollment report.
Questions
Can I use Sunshine Health to pay for assisted living?
Sunshine Health long-term care pays for care services in an assisted living home that works with the plan. It does not pay room and board, which is paid separately, usually from the person's own income.
What if the home I like does not work with Sunshine Health?
Ask us. Homes can add plans, and a person can sometimes change plans. Plan changes go through Florida Choice Counseling, 1-877-711-3662, and there are rules on when a change can be made.
What does Miami Placement charge a Medicaid family?
Nothing. No home pays us for a Medicaid family, and we help those families at no cost to them.
